In 2014 two former Rockville high school theatre nerds came up with an idea for a high school musical inspired by the beloved fried chicken restaurant they grew up on. The former Tasty Chick restaurant was located directly in the middle of a town divided by race, class and religion yet united by fried chicken. Stay tuned as Tasty Chick Musical aims to become an instant cult classic and prepares to take off into uncharted territory.
A beloved yet bygone Fried Chicken restaurant becomes a musical!?
Anybody who grew up in the Rockville-Vernon area will no doubt remember Tasty Chick. For more than two decades this mostly take-out restaurant just off Rt. 83 served the best Chicken and Seafood in CT. It’s been nearly 20 years since this community stable closed and left their iconic sign as a landmark. Alas the sign is no longer there and the memories and fond stores of this fried chicken restaurant that brought together people from both sides of the track are relegated to Facebook groups and online threads…until now.
